user control property not passed to page

Hello all
I created a user control based on a button and calendar control.
When the date is selected from the calendar control, I want it to persist
and passed to a text box on the page.
However the page where the control is loaded cannot get the selected date. I
know the control works because response.write from the control returns the
date on the page. But any control on the page is not able to get the date.
What am I missing here.

Can you show us your code?? Are they on the same page? You should be
able to use .SelectedDate to get the value after the postback.
