Donal,

I ran into this problem before, and it was because I didn't have a well
formed web.config file. (I left off one quote on a string value). Once
I fixed this, everything was ok.

My fault, I had run the Security Lockdown tool on the server. The =
security lockdown tool prevents the debug verb from being passed on to =
IIS.

Hi,

I was getting a problem: Unable to start debugging on the web server. Access is denied. I also reinstalled iis server, reset user authorization settings like administrator etc. reinstalled .net framework components and all possible solutions found on the net..

but finally I installed .NET Framework 1.0 service pack 3. and rebooted the machine.. I was successful to start debugging again after the efforts of 1 and half days..

here is the link to for service pack 3

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=cf52ca95-f2cc-459f-87ee-c17d16e22f08&DisplayLang=en

I hope that you will find it helpful.
