It has problems - it is slow, not particularlymaintainable (it's about 6 code tiers, this impacts your ability to debugproblems) and is not really an OO design (stateless, strictly procedural -looks like a COBOL Program!).I am planning to dedicate some of my relatively sparse spare time to comingup with and publishing (on our website and in the Architecture forum) a.NET-centric alternative to BusinessFacade, in the form of a paper. 1. Does anyone know of any existing information/Architecture work in thisarea (BusinessFacade) - what is Don Box/et al looking at at the moment?(don't want to duplicate work).2. Anyone interested in setting up a group to create a 'library' of .NETpatterns (for IBuySpy for example). This could end up as a book. It takes alot of effort/critique to come up with good patterns - better to do it as acommunity. Chris HewittMonash.NET

Chris,

I am interested in helping to set up the group to create a 'library' of .net
patterns that you mention.

I have attempted to copy the design for building a suite of web based
applications, but have run into difficulties in extending the architecture
to include conspets such as web services.

Thanks,
Ken Allen

I have recently been looking in some detail at the design of Duwamish 7,
Microsoft's sample app used as an example for 'The Architecture of .NET
Applications' at Tech Ed.

This appears to be a simplistic port of the Duwamish 4.0 ASP/DNA
application, without much thought about how the new capabilities of .NET
(esp. ADO.NET) change the ground underneath the app.

looks like a COBOL Program!).

area (BusinessFacade) - what is Don Box/et al looking at at the moment?
(don't want to duplicate work).

2. Anyone interested in setting up a group to create a 'library' of .NET
patterns (for IBuySpy for example). This could end up as a book. It takes a
lot of effort/critique to come up with good patterns - better to do it as a
community.

for the project too.
