I wasnt able to get the RTB to show up in Dreamweaver MX. It just shows
an "ASP" icon.

I dont think this is a RTB issue, but rather a Dreamweaver MX issue. It
seems that Dreamweaver MX does NOT have support for custom server
controls.

Has anyone had a different experience?

Thx

I looked at a copy and came to the same conclusion as you that DreamWeaver
MX does not support the design-time architecture of ASP.NET server controls.

It seems rather crazy, but I suppose it is because they support many
platforms.

MessageDWMX does support ASP.NET server controls. Though, it's not immediately obvious. Switch to code view, right-click on the tag and select 'edit tag'. You can also insert a whole range of server controls too by right right-clicking and selecting 'insert tag'.

One can also register the RTB. Although the architecture for this is pretty flimsy. Go Edit > Tag Libraries. From the Tag Library editor, one can import selected ASP.NET custom tags. MX will scan the testing server and one can register the RTB dll file.

What happens is that a generic vtr file is created. In theory the vtr file can be modified to fit the methods and properties of RTB.
