I have an IBS Portal & Store that works fine from the intranet, and even to
some internet web users, while others attempting to access it from the
internet just time out. However, when external users point to a non-.NET
virtual directory on the same server, things work ok.
The config is: DSL->Linksys Firewall/Router->Win2K Server
I am using DynIP to do the URL resolution, which near as I can tell,
resolves just fine as evidenced by tracert.
http://salon4less.dynip.com:8080/fds
is the .NET portal (it may work for
you, it may not)
I would jump to say it's the firewall, but some external users gain access
just fine. Any ideas? Thanks.
Bill

William,
I can access your T+R Fuel Delivery System web server.
TCP 192.168.123.1:1237 64.105.73.64:8080 ESTABLISHED
TCP 192.168.123.1:1238 64.105.73.64:8080 ESTABLISHED
I suspect whoever is getting timed out is attempting to access a previous IP
address your ISP assigned on your last DSL session. This happens because
their network's DNS servers cached the old IP address and won't bother
querying for an updated record until the TTL (time to live) for the
dynip.com zone expires.
What is the TTL value for dynip.com's zones? Are those ppl timing out
getting the same IP addr as I am (64.105.73.64 for now)?
Best luck,
Aaron

Everyone, I think I may have solved this issue. I downloaded the latest
firmware update for my Linksys Firewall/router, and it *seems* to work for
users that could not access the .NET sites prior to the update.
Please let me know if you cannot access
http://salon4less.dynip.com:8080/fds
. It should be available until at
least July 31, 2002.
Thanks.

Sorry cant hit it or the ips specified below.
I am behind an ISA Firewall. The reason some maynot be able to hit it is
that they themselves are behind a firewall that wont allow the 8080 port to
go through.
I do not believe this why I can not hit it, I am not getting a rejected
message back from the ISA Server.
So it is probably your firewall setup.

Paul
