Hello all-
We are running a production box (currently with 256MB RAM, bumping to 512MB
today) and we are running into this error
'aspnet_wp.exe (PID: 3368) was recycled because memory consumption exceeded
the 153 MB (60 percent of available RAM). '
quite often. This box is a dedicated box running 1 site that does have users
uploading data and running the VS.NET implementation of Crystal reports. If
anyone has any insight on how to alleviate this problem, I would be very
appreciative.
Thanks-
Todd

Hello,
This error is caused because there was a long period of inactivity (user
inactivity). You should adjust the timeout settings in the machine.config
file (default is 10 minutes, if I remember correctly) to prevent this error
from occuring again. It took me a while before I figured this one out
myself.
Best Regards,

Doubling the RAM would be a good start. We have single-site dedicated
clients whose ASP.Net process runs 500MB + consistently, so 163MB doesn't
sound like it's abnormal.

The timeout won't affect the RAM usage. He can bump the process from using
60% RAM up to a higher number, but on a system with only 256MB of RAM, I'd
be concerned that there would be bottlenecks in other areas if he did this.

It appears to be an issue with Crystal and a problem release memory being
used to create the DataSets used to create the Crystal Reports. On the
Crystal website there is a hotfix that "corrects" the problem.
Just an FYI

Hey Todd,
Could you be a little more specific about the hotfix (article number,
download URL)? I've spent the last ten minutes trying to find a .NET
Hotfix, with little luck. Or is the hotfix not .NET specific?
