Where do I place this line in my web.config to disable viewstate?
<Pages EnableViewState="false"/>
I keep getting errors no matter where I put it inside my web.config
Thanks!

Hi,
I think the configuration file is case sensitive. Try: enableViewState and
see if that does it.

There is probably a better way but if you need to toggle the view state from
Web.config perhaps you could write a routine that would examine the config
file and set your control's View State property to true/false accordingly.
The
HttpConfigurationContext
class has a property called VirtualPath that
will return the virtual path to the Web.config file. If you do not need to
toggle the View State then simply set your control's View State property to
false when you build your control programmatically.

Shouldn't I be able to turn off the ViewState as I am doing though? I =
have done it on the page level (that holds the controls), the =
Application level, and the machine level.
What the heck is going on? All these are supposed to take affect =
immediately as far as I know.
How do I get rid of this viewstate????
Thanks again for any help.

You need to place:
<pages enableViewState="false" />
Inside the system.web section of your web config. It will not work if pages is capitalized.
