I have a possibly stupid question...

I have created an ASP.NET web project that connects to a server which I can access. I noticed that the project files on the server have been updated since I started working, but they are not completely up to date. For example, there were some files that I have deleted from my project locally but still remain on the server. In addition, the global.asax file has entirely different code on the server than the one on my local project file. Any help would be much appreciated!

It depends on how you are uploading your files to the server. Are you
building your project locally and then uploading it.

I have found that the easiest way to deploy an ASP.net project is by
creating another virtual dir on the local IIS machine and use the Visual
Studio Copy Project feature. You can set the Copy Project to copy only the
files that are required for the project (based on build action). Once you
have created your new project you can then simply use FTP to upload the
project to the server. A good FTP app should be able copy the new files up
and remove any existing files that are left on the server.
