With all previous version of the .NET Fw uninstalled from the Add/Remove Programs Manager at the recommendation of the manufacturer of my computer, I have attempted to install .NET Fw unsuccessfully with it getting to the point of the download manage telling me that the download is complete and that I can disconnect from the internet, then it attempts to install the update and seconds into the installation it stops and tells me that an error has occurred and that Setup with remove installed files.
Among the measures I have taken to resolve this issue was to attempt installation rebooting in safe mode with networking, disabling my Anti-Virus Program and the same thing happens.
Below is a summary of my system from System Information:

There should be a log file, either in the root directory or in %temp%. Delete it, then delete all the files and folders in %temp%, and try again. If that fails, post the log file here.

What version of .NET Fw should I have for a Windows XP Media Center Edition Service Pack 2 32-Bit computer?
Does .N Fw 3.5 Supercede all previous versions?

The .NET version has nothing to do with Windows version/edition. It has to do with what .NET software you want to support. What software that requires ..NET are you wanting to run? Have you asked the vendor(s) which .NET version is needed?
FWIW, .NET 3.0 and 3.5 are add-ons to v2.0, not replacements. So, needing v3.5 means that 2.0 and 3.5 will have to be installed.
